General descriptionFounded in South Africa in 1957, under the name of B. S Bergman & Partners, the company was acquired by Bergman-Ingérop, in 1995, and became a 100% owned multi-disciplinary subsidiary of the French independent consulting engineering group Ingérop. To keep the close association with its motherhouse, the name was changed to Ingérop Africa in October 2002.Today, Ingérop Africa has become, within the Group, the holding company to whom was awarded the responsibility of Sub-Saharan Africa and Indian Ocean. Through Ingérop Africa’s regional offices and majority owned subsidiaries, Ingérop is present in Botswana, Lesotho, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Senegal and South Africa. Ingérop Africa, through its subsidiaries, is a member of: The SAACE - South African Association of Consulting Engineers; BCSD-SA - Business Council for Sustainable Development – Southern Africa; WESSA - Wildlife and Environment Society of Southern Africa; ACEB - Association of Consulting Engineers of Botswana. Ingérop is also registerd with MICOA - Ministério para a Coordenação da Acção Ambiental (Department of Environmental Affairs) in Mozambique Ingérop Africa is a member of the Ingérop Group which was created some forty years ago at the beginning of the ‘60s, as a branch for technical studies of the French contractor “Grands Travaux de Marseille” (commonly known as GTM), which later merged with VINCI in the year 2000. Originally concentrated on civil and structural engineering, Ingérop progressively enhanced its expertise in order to undertake multidisciplinary projects, including electrical and mechanical engineering as well as process equipment and installations. At the same time, Ingérop developed strong project management capabilities to serve both public and private sector clients within its core lines of business: infrastructure, public transport, water energy and environment, buildings, industrial facilities. In 2001 Ingérop took a major strategic step, organising a Management Buy Out of the firm from VINCI, henceforth becoming an independent consulting engineering company. Today, Ingérop is a simplified joint-stock company, with an internal controlling shareholding, based upon a strong commitment of its management and its entire staff. The firm is led by an Executive Board and overseen by a Supervisory Board. In recent years, thanks to its exceptional network of regional branches, Ingérop has continued to expand its powerful local position in France. Ingérop is also building up a significant European presence, with the creation of subsidiaries in Poland, Slovakia and Spain, whilst maintaining a strong activity abroad in Southern Africa, as well as in the North African Countries.
